If you are a 'selected public sector worker', sometimes called a 'key worker' and you do not have a social housing tenancy and / or do not live within a reasonable distance of your workplace, the Council may give you additional housing priority.

You may be considered for additional housing priority as a key worker if you are employed full or part time on a permanent contract (ie not agency staff) within Tower Hamlets as one of the following:

  • ambulance staff who is also a paramedic
  • a fully qualified nurse working in one of the borough's NHS hospitals
  • a fire fighter or police officer stationed in the borough
  • a teacher working in one of the borough's Local Education Authority (LEA) maintained schools.

This scheme is only available to key workers who require a 3 bed property of less.

If you would like more information about this scheme, please contact the Tower Hamlets Letting Team on 020 7364 5000.
