Over 100 job-seekers in Tower Hamlets attended a jobs fair jointly organised and promoted by THCH and our neighbouring landlords: Gateway and Spitalfields HA, at the Tarling East Community Centre on Wednesday, 23 February.

Recruitment agencies, training advisors and local employers, including The Aspire Foundation, Job Centre Plus, Skillsmatch, Microsoft Apprenticeships and Employment First were available for visitors to talk to, discuss how to write CVs and job applications, gain insights into preparing for interviews and access information relating to employment training courses.

Plenty of jobs with organisations from across London and seeking candidates were available for visitors to browse and take away details.

Many visitors found the event useful; with genuine employment possibilities for a number who attended whilst others were happy to receive information on how to access job training courses.

Local resident, Barat Chowdhury said "I found the event really useful and the advisors were very knowledgeable".

THCH's Senior Community Development Officer, Shamim Hossain said "12.4% of people living in Tower Hamlets are unemployed, which is above the London average of 8.9%, This is why THCH is committed to helping out-of-work people in the borough find employment.

"We were pleased to jointly promote the event to residents of Gateway and Spitalfields HAs and hopefully make a real and positive difference to people's lives".
