16 apprenticeships available to Tower Hamlets residents
Young people can take their first step on the career ladder by applying to join the Mayor's Apprenticeship Programme.
The 12 month scheme allows young people to gain work experience and achieve a National Vocational Qualification (NVQ).
Mayor Lutfur Rahman said "Helping young people into work is a priority and this scheme provides young people with a stepping stone into full-time employment".
Apprentices will work towards an NVQ level 2 in business and administration and will be paid to work 30 hours per week. Applicants must live in the borough and be aged between 16 and 26. They must have a grade D or above GCSE in English and grade E or above GESE in Maths.
The closing date for this programme is 13 May 2011.
