Why you should be concerned about Dry Riser theft

If something was stolen from your home resulting in your security and safety being compromised, would you be concerned?

Recently across Tower Hamlets, there has been an increase in dry riser outlets being stolen within high rise residential buildings. This poses a significant risk to the safety and security of both residents and their homes, as well as the London Fire Brigade (LFB).

What is a dry riser?

A dry riser is designed to help firefighters easily access water on all floors and compartments during firefighting emergencies. Made up of a system of water inlets, pipes, and outlets spread out through a building across all levels, these systems are normally situated along the building’s firefighting shaft.

The absence of a dry riser directly impacts the LFB’s ability to respond to fire emergencies effectively. This jeopardises the safety of residents, their homes, and the overall integrity of the building.

How you can help

As your landlord, we’ll do our part by inspecting our buildings every month, and ensuring all fire safety equipment is in place.

If you notice any fire safety equipment is missing, please report it to us immediately. It’s important that we investigate missing items quickly for the safety of our residents and the building.

Thank you for your cooperation.
