Tips and advice to save money on your energy bill

Everyone has been affected by the rise in energy prices this week. If you're worried about paying fuel bills, you are not alone. We’ve put together some tips and advice that could help you save money and keep your home warm and healthy.

  • Instead of turning your heating on and off, use the timer on your boiler – it’s more sustainable!
  • Try to not have clothes or furniture on or near your radiator as they’ll absorb the heat
  • It might not sound like much, but reducing your thermostat by 1°C could save you around £75 each year
  • By turning your appliances off at the wall (instead of leaving them on standby) you could save around £35 a year
  • Take a shower instead of a bath, it’ll save roughly have the amount of water!
  • It’s been said over and over (usually by the dad of the household), but turning your lights off could say you around £15 a year
  • Draught excluders can stop heat from escaping, and cold from coming in. You can often pick one up at your local market
  • We’re a community that loves our food. By putting a lid on your saucepan, you’re less likely to experience condensation, that can cause problems later down the line
  • And if you’re concerned about your energy bills going up, it may be worth looking for a better deal. Companies like Green Energy Switch can help you for free!
