New community group forms following Winter Warm Hubs

Our Warm Hubs, which ran from December to February, were a space for residents to have a hot meal, enjoy teas and coffees, and chat with neighbours and members of our team. While the Warm Hubs were a response to difficult period, it resulted in creating a sense of community among a group of residents who attended.

A new community group has been formed in the Minerva Estate, after residents connected at the weekly Warm Hub. The group will continue to meet every week at our Minerva Community Centre and will bring together a mix of neighbours who are dedicated to making a positive difference in their community. The group plans to host regular coffee mornings to tackle loneliness and look out for one another.

One of the neighbours who has helped in keeping the weekly group running, said "come along every week for a cuppa and a chat – it’s a great place to meet your neighbours”.

If you’re interested in attending, just get in touch and ask to speak to a member of our Community Development team.

It’s been a difficult winter period for many, but we’re proud to see the community coming together. Our Director of Operations, Mandeep, said: “We’re really happy to see this community group forming on the Minerva Estate. Our Warm Winter Hubs were just the beginning and we’re committed to supporting residents in any way we can”.

Continuing to support residents: tenancy drop-in sessions at local community centres

Using our community centres to run warm hubs was one of the ways in which we helped residents during the winter. We’re now using our centres to run Tenancy Support drop-in sessions Monday-Friday until April.

Our Tenancy Support Officers will be at the centres to chat with residents about the financial support available to them. There are various ways our officers can advise residents, whether it’s to refer them to our Hardship Fund, discuss budget advice, or help with accessing benefits, residents can just drop in for a chat and our officers will be there to help.

So far this year, we’ve helped 345 residents with their finances. For further details on these sessions, visit our rent page.
