Weekly foodbank helping Bethnal Green families
Home is more than just four walls - it's our family, friends, and neighbours. We support seven community centres and club rooms across our neighbourhoods which are used by our residents, community organisations and charities.
In July, our Community Development Team volunteered at one of our groups, Our Variety Club, which runs a weekly foodbank in Bethnal Green. The foodbank provides much needed support in the area, providing packages for around 30-40 families every week. The club also delivers a range of projects like training and women’s support sessions.
The group leader of Our Variety Club, Atia, said:
Our Variety Club tries its best to help the local community struggling in this cost of living crisis. Thank you to THCH for giving us the opportunity to use the centre and help the community.
The foodbank runs from our Zander Court Club Room in Bethnal Green every Thursday from 11:30am – 12:30pm. Referrals come via THCH’s Community Development Officer, Shema Khanam, on 020 7780 3070 or email shema.khanam@thch.org.uk.
